The Shushwap. |
Author |
Boas, Franz |
Summary |
"The ancient customs of the Salish tribes of the interior of the Provnice of British Columbia have almost entirely disappeared, as the native have been christianised by the endeavours of Catholic missionaries. Only a very few still adhere to their former customs and usages; for instance, a group of families living in Nicola Valley and another on North Thompson River. I did not come into contact with any of these, and consequently the following remarks are founded entirely on inquiries. I selected the Shushwap as an example of the tribes of the interior." taken from p. 632. |
