Title First Nations cultural centres in the new millennium: a case study project.
Author Fortney, Sharon
Summary "This report, prepared for the Department of Canadian Heritage, profiles four First Nations Cultural Centres located in British Columbia - Xa:ytem Longhouse Interpretative Centre in Mission, the Secwepemc Museum and Heritage Park in Kamloops, the U'mista Cultural Centre in Alert Bay, and the Kwagiulth Museum and Cultural Centre at Cape Mudge on Quadra Island. The Department of Canadian Heritage selected these four institutions for case study because they viewed them as excellent examples of aboriginal cultural preservation and believed them be representative of a diversity of preservation models. The four Centres also have ongoing, and in some cases well established, relationships with the Department of Canadian Heritage through its Museums Assistance Program (MAP) and other funding initiatives." taken from the introduction provided, p.5.
