Title Sto:lo Sacred Ground.
Author Mohs, Gordon
Summary "This presentation is about the sacred grounds or spiritual sites of the Sto:lo Indians of the Fraser Valley in British Columbia and is based on ethnographic research I have conducted over the past six years. A key aspect of discussion is to examine the subject of native sacred grounds and spirituality in light of historical developments and contempory issues in archaeology. A second objective is to provide a framework which illustrates how sacred sites can be described, classified and recorded. The classification scheme presented is one I developed in 1987 and have been using since this time. I begin this presentation with the thoughts and words of the Sto:lo people on the subject of their sacred grounds and spirituality, for in the final analysis, it is their views which are most important." taken from the provided introduction, p. 1.
